Was I Ever a Child

A child is supposed to fly without limits

In manner of play and imagination

A child is supposed to be loved

Taught how to love

How to go beyond

Taking one step towards a dream was wrong because of manmade rules

Rules that had nothing to do with that dream

Rules that had nothing to do with wanted adventure

Taking one step to love was supposed to be of great wonders

Yet, was distracted by another road that led to fear and unwanted words ...

I consider this particular poem the beginning of my testimony. Many whom saw me grow up only knew what I allowed them to see. The fact that I was born and raised in the north side of Philadelphia or perhaps having been raised in a very strict Pentecostal church. They saw a little girl with long hair, that wore long dresses or skirts and prissy ankle socks and shoes. Reality is, there was so much hidden and a fear to express.

I began writing poetry during my junior high years and fell in love with it. In high school the English teacher would tell us to write in our journals and that would give my imagination flight.

I came to find that having a God given talent was beautiful, but what was the purpose of having one if you're unwilling to share it with the world. My reason was low self esteem. Yes, I had a strong demeanor and a loose mouth, but I also kept to myself for so many reasons.

Me

Scripting the physical appearance is a task not easy to manifest

Too many likes - So any dislikes

Changes formed between then and now - Changes wanted between now and then

The many gains - The greater loss

This is the beginning of another poem I wrote. It portrays more or less of how I see myself today and how thankful I am for the many breakthroughs.

I am a wife to an awesome man and a mother of three wonderful boys. Together we live in Philadelphia, PA. and are members of Living Faith Christian Center located in Pennsauken, NJ. I am part of Crossover Youth Ministry and the Women's Ministry.

My Family and I are associated with Boy Scout of America and The Ree Wynn Foundation.

I continue writing poetry having to do with various aspects in my life, personal opinions, love and relationships. My love for writing and vivid imagination created a story that involved personal and well-known issues. Subjects, that though disccused in large groups, many refuse to share  becuase of shame, personal blame and/or fear what whomever would think. Having confronted several things in my life and knowing friends and family that were raised within a difficult atmosphere became the inspiration for this book and the many to come.

My greatest desire is to please God in all I do. This includes expressing His Word through literature that will captivate lives of all ages and genre.

Always remember, you are highly Blessed and Favored!
